First step is to open the pulp chamber to allow access to the canals. Once open, with help of special instruments known as files the infected nerves is removed. The canals are flushed with antiseptic solution. The root canals are further cleaned & reshaped to free them of all debris. Once the canals are empty dry & clean, they are filled and sealed with biocompatible material known as Gutta Purcha Points / G.P. Points The cavity is then filled with temporarily filling material which is then replaced with a permanent filling material like composite filling.A root canal treated tooth should be ideally capped after 15-20 days. An opening is made on the top of the tooth, then the pulp chamber and root canals are cleaned and shaped for filling and sealing. The permanent filling is followed by new crown.
Tooth whitening (termed tooth bleaching when utilising bleach), is either the restoration of a natural tooth shade or whitening beyond the natural shade.Restoration of the underlying natural tooth shade is possible by simply removing surface stains caused by extrinsic factors, stainers such as tea, coffee, red wine and tobacco. The buildup of calculus and tartar can also influence the staining of teeth. This restoration of the natural tooth shade is achieved by having the teeth cleaned by a dental professional (commonly termed "scaling and polishing"), or at home by various oral hygiene methods. Calculus and tartar are difficult to remove without a professional clean.Tobacco can cause stains, while certain enamel defects (such as enamel hypoplasia or fluorosis) may lead to yellow discolored teeth.
Reimplantation refers to the insertion and temporary fixation of a completely or partially avulsed (knocked out) tooth due to traumatic injury. There is no realistic way to prevent the avulsion of teeth as it usually occurs due to an accident. However, wearing a mouth guard during sports activities usually helps reduce risk. If you have been unfortunate to have lost any teeth then Dental Implants are the best solution to replace your missing teeth. The position of implants is determined by the position and angle of adjacent teeth, by lab simulations or by using computed tomography with CAD/CAM simulations and surgical guides called stents. The effect of missing teeth can be detrimental to your long term oral and medical health. Missing teeth are also associated with old age and can make you look older than you are.
PAINLESS TOOTH EXTRACTION Although every effort is made to save a tooth, it is often necessary to recommend extraction. One of the first concerns when discussing tooth extraction is usually the pain associated with the procedure while in the office. To minimize much of the pain and discomfort from this procedure we offer Sedation Dentistry for tooth extraction and other dental procedure at the request of our patients. WHEN SHOULD A TOOTH EXTRACTION BE AN OPTION ? A dentist or an orthodontist may opt to pull a tooth for many reasons. The tooth may be so hopelessly damaged from tooth decay that it cannot be saved even with root canal therapy.
Dental radiographs are commonly called X-rays. Dentists use radiographs for many reasons: to find hidden dental structures, malignant or benign masses, bone loss, and cavities.A radiographic image is formed by a controlled burst of X-ray radiation which penetrates oral structures at different levels, depending on varying anatomical densities, before striking the film or sensor. Teeth appear lighter because less radiation penetrates them to reach the film. Dental caries, infections and other changes in the bone density, and the periodontal ligament, appear darker because X-rays readily penetrate these less dense structures. Dental restorations (fillings, crowns) may appear lighter or darker, depending on the density of the material.
